There are at least another two months of delays in store for M50 drivers, despite the introduction of barrier free tolling.

The new system will be in place in ten days time, but it is going to take another eight or nine weeks for the existing toll plaza to be dismantled and the new lane layout to be put in place.

The NRA is anticipating a range of "teething problems", as the 100,000 drivers that use the motorway each day get used to the new system.

Spokesperson Hugh Creegan said today that he was confident the NRA is equipped to deal with any issues that may arise.
