FG: EU directives would have lessened flood damage

The Government is being accused by Fine Gael of ignoring EU laws that could have prevented some of the damage suffered this month through flooding.

Fine Gael MEP Colm Burke said today that at least two EU Directives have been issued since the year 2000 that require member states to improve flood-protection measures.
