Teenage stab victims recovering

Two teenage girls were recovering today after an early morning stabbing in Waterford.

A 19-year-old was struck in the back and a 17-year-old suffered a minor leg wound when they were attacked in John’s Lane at 2.15am.

The women are recovering in Waterford Regional Hospital where their injuries are described as non-life threatening.

An 18-year-old who was arrested shortly afterwards for public order remains in garda custody.

She can be held for up to 24 hours.

A garda spokeswoman said the scene remains cordoned off for a technical examination.
