Tourist flight diverted after trouble erupts on board

A charter flight from Dublin to Crete has been diverted to Venice after trouble broke out on board.

The Futura Gael flight was on its way to Heraklion last night with 167 passengers when the decision was made to make the diversion.

Five people were subsequently removed from the aircraft by Italian police and the remaining passengers were delayed at Venice Airport for around two hours.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
