Boy remanded to face hospital 'burgling' charge
A 17-year-old boy arrested for burgling a St John of Gods mental health hospital in Dublin was remanded on bail today.
The boy was charged with burglary Hospitaller House, St John of Gods, in Stillorgan in Dublin, on December 18 last year. It is alleged that the teen, who was accompanied to court by his father, stole €1005, during the burglary. The teenager also faces a further charge for burgling a school in Castleknock, in Dublin, on February 12 last.
Judge Elizabeth MacGrath noted that a negative probation report had been furnished in relation to earlier charges for driving without a licence and insurance to which the boy had pleaded guilty previously.
She remanded the boy, who is from Tallaght, on bail to appear again next month when he is to enter pleas to the newer charges. She also acceded to a request from the defence to make a disclosure order to include fingerprint evidence.
“It is in your interest to co-operate with the Probation Service,” she warned the boy.
