Age Action Ireland is welcoming the removal of the upper age limit for eligibility to sit on a jury.

Age Action Ireland is welcoming the removal of the upper age limit for eligibility to sit on a jury.

The Civil Law Act 2008, which was signed into law today, allows people older than 70 to go forward for jury duty.

It will come into effect at the beginning of 2009.

Gerard Scully of Age Action Ireland said this afternoon that age should never be a barrier.
