Two people have been killed on Ireland's roads tonight.

A man was killed today after he was hit by a car.

Nobody else was injured in the accident, which happened at Ballypreacus, Bunclody, Co Wexford at 1.45pm.

The body of the man, 37, was taken to Wexford General Hospital.

Gardaí at Gorey are investigating.

Meanwhile, a woman died after a two-vehicle crash in Co Mayo tonight.

The accident happened at Kilmeena (N59), the main Westport to Newport Road at about 8.45pm.

The dead woman was a passenger in one of the cars.

A garda spokesman said: “The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Castlebar General Hospital where they are being treated for their injuries.

“The road remains closed pending a garda investigation.”

Gardaí at Westport are appealing for witnesses.
