Two held after cannabis seizure at Rosslare Port

Two people are in garda custody in Wexford following a cannabis seizure at Rosslare Port yesterday morning.

The pair, a 51-year-old British man and a 43-year-old French woman, were detained after 25kgs of the drug was found hidden in a secret compartment in the petrol tank of a car.

The drugs, with a potential value of €175,000, were detected by a sniffer dog after the car arrived from Cherbourg in France.

Meanwhile, two men were also arrested at Shannon Airport last night after relatively minor seizures of cannabis and cocaine.

One man had swallowed pellets of cannabis with a potential value of €12,000, while the second had a small quantity of cocaine in his possession.

Both were taken to hospital for observation.
