Government clamp down on welfare fraud

The dole will no longer be paid directly into recipient's bank accounts, as part of a new Government clampdown on welfare fraud.

An investigation by the Department of Social and Family Affairs found that almost 10% of people on the live register were claiming benefits while living outside the country.
