Woman killed in Galway road accident

A middle-aged woman was killed and two other people have been injured in a car accident.

The crash happened last night at Minna, Inverin in Co Galway on the main road between Spiddal and Carraroe when two cars were in collision.

The man and woman, who had been travelling together in one of the cars, were taken to University College Hospital in Galway, but their injuries are not serious.

The road was closed for several hours from around 10pm but has since re-opened.

The woman is third person to die on the roads this weekend after a young man and woman died in an accident in Co Offaly.

Gardaí at Salthill in Galway are investigating.
