A Fingal security company worker has admitted to being involved in organised crime by providing information to a gang who intended to steal €2m from a cash-in-transit van in Kildare last year.

A Fingal security company worker has admitted to being involved in organised crime by providing information to a gang who intended to steal €2m from a cash-in-transit van in Kildare last year.

Darryl Caffrey (aged 33) of Cherry Park, Rivervalley, Swords pleaded guilty to enhancing the ability of a criminal organisation to commit or facilitate a theft of cash from a vehicle at Tesco, Shackleton Road, Celbridge on November 2, 2007, by providing information concerning the operation of the business of Chubb Ireland Ltd.

Judge Katherine Delahunt remanded Caffrey in custody pending sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court next December.
