New 30km Kilbeggan-to-Athlone road opens

The latest section of the N6 has been officially opened in Co Westmeath.

The 30km stretch of road between Kilbeggan and Athlone links the Athlone bypass with the Kilbeggan to Kinnegad dual carriageway.

It bypasses Kilbeggan, Horseleap and Moate and should cut journey times between Galway and Dublin by 45 minutes.
