Kilbeggan to Athlone dual carriageway opens today

The new N6 Kilbeggan to Athlone dual carriageway is due to be officially opened in the midlands later today.

The 30km stretch of road joins the Athlone bypass to the Kilbeggan to Kinnegad dual carriageway.

It will bypass Kilbeggan, Horseleap and Moate and will cut an estimated 45 minutes off the journey time between Galway and Dublin.

The road will be opened to traffic from 4pm today.
