Gardaí in Cork investigating the death of a man in the city are refusing to release the results of the post-mortem examination for operational reasons.

The dead man's wife found his body in the upstairs bedroom of a house on St Francis Avenue on College Road yesterday lunchtime.

Gardaí say they are following a number of lines of inquiry.

It is understood the victim had been stabbed a number of times.
