A Polish man has been acquitted by a jury of raping a Galway woman last year.

The jury at the Central Criminal Court deliberated for just under nine hours before finding the 43-year-old man not guilty of raping the woman and of assault causing her harm as she was walking home from a pub in a Galway town on May 9, 2007.
