Tunnel workers threaten to strike later this month
SIPTU workers at the Dublin Port Tunnel are threatening to go on strike later this month as part of a row over pay levels.
The workers have voted unanimously in favour of strike action, saying they are paid one third less than the normal rate for the industry.
The stoppage is due begin on July 23 unless a solution can be found by then.
SIPTU is calling on the tunnel operator Transroute to take the opportunity to resolve the dispute rather than face a complete shutdown of the facility.
