CPA concerned about number of concealed pregnancies
The Crisis Pregnancy Agency (CPA) says it is concerned about the number of women who are still concealing their pregnancies in Ireland.
The agency's annual report says one in every 403 births in rural hospitals is concealed, while in Dublin maternity hospitals, one in every 625 women keeps her pregnancy hidden.
The CPA says women still feel there is a strong social stigma attached to becoming pregnant outside of a relationship.
It has warned mothers that concealing a pregnancy can lead to problems when they do eventually access healthcare.
