Dundalk shooting 'may be case of mistaken identity'

Gardaí investigating the shooting of a man in Dundalk are considering the possibility that the attack may have been a case of mistaken identity.

The 51-year-old victim, who has been named locally as Paddy Costello, was found with a gunshot wound to the knee at his home in the Fatima Court area of Dundalk

The alarm was raised at around 4am yesterday.

Mr Costello is recovering at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where his condition is said to be stable.
