Truckers meet govt officials to discuss rising costs

Truckers are meeting officials from the Department of Transport this morning to discuss measures to help them cope with rising fuel prices.
The Irish Road Haulage Association has already met Transport Minister Noel Dempsey to discuss the situation facing the industry as a result of rising petrol and diesel prices.
Yesterday, the cost of oil hit another record high of nearly $146 a barrel.
Hauliers claim they cannot pass on the extra expense to customers and are being forced to bear the extra cost themselves.
