Driver disqualifications to be recognised island-wide
Ministers from both sides of the border have agreed to recognise driver disqualifications on an all-island basis.
At present, a driver disqualified in one jurisdiction can still get a licence in the other.
However, the Republic's Transport Minister, Noel Dempsey, and Stormont Environment Minister Sammy Wilson, agreed to harmonise their systems at a meeting today.
Mr Dempsey has described it as a vital step towards greater road safety.
