An inquest into the death of an elderly woman whose remains were found near Bray Head in Co Wicklow earlier this year is due to open at the Dublin City Coroners Court this morning.

Seventy-eight-year-old Alzheimer's sufferer Maura Reynolds disappeared from a nursing home in Bray on Christmas night 2005.

A massive search was mounted when her absence was noticed the following morning, but her remains lay undiscovered in undergrowth for almost three years.

Ms Reynolds had been a resident at the Tara Care Centre for 18 months prior to her disappearance.
