Man quizzed in connection with horse dealer's murder
A 46-year-old man was tonight being questioned over the murder of well-known horse dealer Christy Hanley last month.
The badly beaten body of the 83-year-old was discovered in his home in Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath after a suspected robbery.
Detectives investigating the killing arrested the man in Dublin and took him to Athlone Garda Station for questioning.
He is being held under section four of the Criminal Justice Act and can be quizzed for 24 hours.
Mr Hanley was a regular fixture at racecourses around the country and was renowned for playing games with punters on the way home including roulette wheel or three-card tricks.
