Number of young offenders up 20% in recent years

The Children's Rights Alliance has expressed concern about reports of a 20% increase in the number of children involved in crime.

Reports this morning say the number of under-18s referred to the Gardaí's youth diversion programme was up from 17,500 in 2005 to 21,000 last year.
