A man in his 20s is still being held for questioning in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in Limerick on Thursday.

A man in his 20s is still being held for questioning in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in Limerick on Thursday.

The body of Brendan McEvoy, who was in his 50s and originally from Carlow, was found on a stairway of an apartment complex.

Gardaí believe he may have been the victim of an assault.

A post mortem has been carried out but further tests are thought to be necessary before a definitive cause of death can be determined.

The man is being questioned at Henry Street garda station.
