Man jailed for attack that left victim in wheelchair

A Mayo man has been jailed for six years for an assault which has left his victim wheelchair bound and requiring life long care as a result of serious brain injuries.

Gary Stapleton of 25 of Hillview Crescent, Bunree Road, Ballina, punched his victim once knocking him down and then kicked him once in the head as he lay motionless on the ground.
