Irish troops are patrolling refugee camps again in Chad after coming under fire during clashes between rebels and government forces yesterday.

The Defence Forces say there is no question of the mission being abandoned following the incident near Goz Beida yesterday afternoon.

Irish soldiers, who were in an armoured vehicle, were fired at during the clashes and also returned some warning shots.

No troops were injured in the incident and they returned to their patrol duties this morning.
