The safety message comes in the wake of four deaths on the roads this weekend - three of which were pedestrians.

A 20-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a car at Rathcormac on the Sligo to Bundoran road on Saturday morning.

An 18-year-old man died after an accident involving a rally car at the Topaz Donegal International Rally yesterday afternoon.

On Friday, a 72-year-old man was killed by a lorry in Co Louth.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old girl died at Sligo General Hospital yesterday after a single-vehicle collision in the early hours of Saturday morning.
