More than 500 people climbed the four highest mountains in each province - Carrauntoohil in Co Kerry, Mweelrea in Co Mayo, Co Down's Slieve Donard and Lugnaquilla in Co Wicklow - in just 36 hours.

Funds raised from the event, which is organised by Focus Ireland, will go towards providing 800 new homes by 2010 in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Sligo.
