Parents are set to withdraw children from a school in Co Limerick this morning in protest at a decision not to proceed with the construction of a new building.

Kilfinane National School previously hit the headlines in 2005 when it had to be evacuated for three weeks because of an infestation of rats.

The building dates back to 1909 and pupils currently have to use an outside toilet.

A new school has been promised, but the Department of Education says there is no money available for the project.
