Aer Lingus has announced an increase in its long-haul fuel surcharge because of the high cost of oil.

Flights to New York, Boston, Chicago and Washington will increase by €10 to a total of €75 from next Wednesday.

The fuel surcharge on flights to and from Orlando increases by €10 and €80, while the levy on flights to and from San Francisco and LA will increase to €100 from €90.

There will be no new increase on 82 of Aer Lingus' short haul flights.
