A badly-decomposed body has been found among heavy undergrowth in a park, gardaí said today.

A member of the public raised the alarm after the remains were spotted in an area of St Anne’s Park, Raheny, north Dublin.

Officers carried out preliminary examinations at the scene but it is not known whether it is the body of a man or woman or what age the dead person was.

Gardaí said the remains appeared to have been in the undergrowth for a considerable time.

The scene was sealed off pending a technical examination and the State Pathologist’s office has been notified.
