Three people have lost their lives following accidents on Ireland's roads over the past 24 hours.

The latest incident happened just after 8pm last night in Co Mayo, when a man in his 70s died after the car he was driving crashed on Rahilly Street in Ballina.

Less than two hours earlier, a man in his 20s died when his motorcycle collided with a car in Co Cork.

His female passenger, who was also in her 20s, was seriously injured in the crash.

In Co Sligo, meanwhile, a woman in her 80s died after her car collided with a lorry on the main Sligo to Bundoran road yesterday afternoon.
