Elderly woman driver dies in Sligo car crash

A woman in her 80s has been killed in a road accident in Sligo today.

She died when the car she was driving and a lorry were in collision on the main Sligo to Bundoran Road just before midday today.

The woman, who was in the car on her own, was taken to Sligo General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck received minor injuries.

The road at the scene of the crash is currently closed and motorists are being advised that diversions are in place.
