HIQA recommends monitoring rates of infections

Healthcare professionals should monitor and record the rates of infections, according to a new report from the Health Information and Quality Authority.

The authority is launching 12 standards for infection prevention and control standards which are subject to consultation until the mid-July.

Although MRSA infections are slightly decreasing, director of healthcare quality Jon Billings said a lot more can be done to prevent them.
