Gardaí question three held in connection with Cavan murder

Gardaí have been given a further 24 hours to question two men and a woman being held in connection with the murder of Darren McGrath in Cavan last week.

The period of detention was extended last night at a special sitting of Monaghan District Court.

Gardaí told the court they were still examining CCTV footage and the phone records of one of those in custody.

The three suspects were detained earlier this week and can now be questioned until tonight before they must be charged or released.

Thirty-one-year-old Darren McGrath was shot dead last week as he slept at his home in the Kilconny Estate in Belturbet.
