Minister says petrol and diesel prices unlikely to drop
The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Eamon Ryan has said that the likelihood of petrol and diesel prices coming down in the near future is not good.
A litre of petrol now costs on average €1.30 while a litre of diesel costs around €1.40.
This is despite the fact that greater volumes of petrol are purchased in Ireland
Questioned in the Dáil, Minister Ryan said an increase in demand for diesel around the world has driven up prices and there's nothing the Government here can do about it.
