Irish man drowns in Lanzarote

A Dublin man today drowned in Lanzarote, the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

It happened at around 4am in Puerto Del Carmen, one of the island’s main tourist resorts.

It is understood he was on a family holiday at the time and the incident is being treated as a tragic accident.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it was providing assistance to the man’s family.
