Yachtsman taken to safety after rescue operation

A lone yachtsman who got into difficulty of the south west coast is now being taken to safety.

A major rescue operation was launched after the coastguard received a distress call earlier today.

The sailor had fallen onboard the vessel and was unable to control it because of his injuries.

The navy vessel the LE Aoife was called in to assist the coastguard and the Castletownbere lifeboat.
