A Mayo man has been remanded in custody pending sentence for an assault two years ago which caused his victim serious brain injuries leaving him wheelchair bound and requiring life long care.

Gary Stapleton (aged 25), punched his victim once knocking him down and then kicked him once in the head as he lay motionless on the ground at Corrig Avenue, Dun Laoghaire.
