Minister announces €425m for rural development
A €425m Government programme has been announced for the development of rural areas.
The amount, which was announced today by the Minister for Rural Affairs Eamon O'Cuiv, is nearly three times higher than that given to the last rural development programme in 2000.
The programme will distribute the money to local action groups around the country.
It will be used for a number of developments, including the creation of new businesses, encouraging tourist activities and conserving rural heritage.
