Suspicious device found under van in Dublin

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a suspicious device underneath a van in south Dublin overnight.

The discovery was made at around 11pm in a car park on Clogher Road in Crumlin.

Nearby houses were evacuated before Army bomb disposal experts declared the area safe at around 1am.

The incident comes amid a huge upsurge in the use of pipe bombs and hoax pipe bombs by Dublin criminals.
