Three rescued off Galway coast

There has been a dramatic rescue in Galway this afternoon.

Three people went overboard when a rib boat got into difficulty on a journey from Renvelle near Oranmore to New Quay.

The alarm was raised at 4.30pm when the boat failed to arrive in New Quay.

The Galway lifeboat was dispatched to the scene and rescued the three people from the water.

All three have been taken to University College Hospital, Galway.
