Man dies following Galway house fire

A 54-year-old man has died following a fire at his home in Galway city yesterday evening.

The blaze broke out at around 5pm in the Castlepark area of Ballybane.

The dead man has been named as Tommy Sweeney.

The cause of the fire has not been disclosed, but Gardai say they are not treating it as suspicious.
