Gaelscoil badly damaged in Dublin blaze
A gaelscoil has been extensively damaged by a fire, gardaí said today.
The blaze broke out at Scoil Naomh Phadraig, near Castle Road in Lucan, west Dublin, at around 9.30pm last night.
Four units of the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene and brought the flames under control.
The roof of the main school building was badly damaged and it is expected to be closed for weeks.
More than 300 children attend the school.
A spokesman for the Garda Press Office said forensic tests would be carried out to establish if the fire was started deliberately.
“There was extensive damage to the roof lining of the main school building. We are keeping an open mind at this time,” the garda spokesman said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Lucan Garda Station.
