Three held after burglary and cross-border car chase

Three men have been arrested following an armed burglary and cross-border car chase through Armagh and Monaghan last night.

The drama began when three men, one of them armed with a handgun, forced their way into a parochial house in Armagh.

They locked two people into the bathroom while they searched the building for money before fleeing the scene.

The police tried to stop the raiders' getaway car, but it rammed three PSNI vehicles before heading towards the border.

The Gardaí were alerted and subsequently pursued the car through Co Monaghan before arresting two men.

The PSNI also detained a third man in Benburb, Co Tyrone.
