Govt to unveil details of Dublin Transport Authority
The Government is due to unveil details today of the long-awaited Dublin Transport Authority.
The body is being established in an effort to improve traffic management and public transport in the capital and surrounding areas.
It will coordinate the planning of transport projects and officials hope it will speed up the construction of new infrastructure.
One of its other duties will be to end the widespread building of residential or commercial developments in areas with poor transport links.
Under the legislation establishing the DTA, developers will only be allowed to build in areas where proper transport services are already up and running.
