Cocaine worth €2m seized in Dublin
Detectives today smashed a drug trafficking ring with the seizure of more than €2m worth of cocaine in Dublin city centre.
Four men are being held by detectives after eight kilos of the drug was discovered in a car at Pearse Square shortly before 10am.
The probe was part of an ongoing investigation by the Garda National Drug Unit - assisted by the National Criminal Intelligence Unit – into the activities of a north Dublin based drug trafficking network.
Gardaí said that pending analysis, the find has a potential street value of €2.3m.
The suspects, aged 23, 24, 43, and 47 years, have been detained at Pearse Street Garda Station under the Drug Trafficking Act.
“Searches are continuing and further developments will be reported,” said a garda spokesman.
