Bertie considering humanitarian work
Bertie Ahern may be considering a career in humanitarian work.
The outgoing Taoiseach received a call from Bob Geldof the day after he announced his resignation this week and it's understood the two discussed working together on a new anti-poverty campaign.
Mr Ahern also spoke to the former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan last week about his future.
Justin Kilcullen, Director of Trocaire says the Taoiseach has a great empathy with people living in hardship and in poverty.
"He shows great diplomatic skills working internationally, given his success in international diplomacy in the past, he'd be as good as anyone and better than most," Mr Kilcullen said.
