The families of the Omagh bomb victims are meeting the North's new Police Ombudsman, Al Hutchinson, for the first time later today.

An inquiry by the previous ombudsman, Nuala O'Loan, criticised the police for failing to tell local officers about a telephone warning made 11 days before the bombing.

Michael Gallagher, a spokesman for the Omagh relatives, said today that questions about this phone call will be top of the agenda for today's meeting.

The families also want to discuss the matter of the two police officers who were found to have lied to the courts during the recent trial of Sean Hoey on charges related to the 1998 bombing.

Hoey was acquitted of the charges, with the trial judge sharply criticising the PSNI's handling of the case.
