Harney: Health service needs to change
The Health Minister Mary Harney has told doctors that the health system needs to move away from a culture of blame.
Mary Harney says that while establishing facts will help improve the service, doctors must also be able to learn from past mistakes.
Speaking at the close of the Irish Medical Organisation's AGM in Killarney late on Saturday night night, Mary Harney said a quarter of all public money spent in Ireland goes on the health service.
She told delegates that Ireland has always performed best when it has embraced change.
